Purolator offers thousands of safe and secure pickup depot locations within Canada.  We sell a lot of expensive items that need special care.. unlike DVD's or widgets that can be stuffed in your mailbox. It's really hard to fit a guitar into a mailbox :) We have discovered that shipments to a depot offer far greater security for our clients and have adopted these locations as the best method possible to get your packages delivered safely, securely and with lowered risk of damage.   Packages are not abandoned to freeze on your doorstep when you're not at home and items arrive quicker to the depot than to your address.  And...just in case you forgot to tell your spouse about the new guitar? No problem...

We offer safe and secure shipments to the nearest Purolator Depot for all of our Canadian customers by default. 

If you don't want your shipment sent to depot by default, please consider using interac online or interac e-transfer or business cheque as your payment method or discuss with our staff as we can make different arrangements for delivery such as shipping to a registered work address.
Interac online or Interac e-transfer payments allow us to ship to any Canadian address you specify including apartments, unless the shipping cost exceeds our standard allowances whereby we will contact you by phone or email to discuss an alternate delivery address for your items. 

If  your order is paid by credit card / paypal / paybright we ship to the nearest depot for your security and items will not be left at your doorstep. Items over 70lbs or tall items over 36" items are shipped to depot by default unless alternate shipping arrangements have been made in advance.

Apartment Buildings
Due to high risk of theft, shipments to apartment units are by default sent to the closest courier depot when an order is placed via credit card / paypal / paybright. If you require a shipment to your apartment please make payment via Interac E-transfer or Interac online or give us a call or email and we can assist. We can easily make different arrangements for a secure drop off such as a registered work address. Please call or email and we'll be glad to help out.

Beyond Point / Rural / Remote (new and improved)
NEW - many rural areas now qualify for our Free Ground shipping options and discounts.
If you live on an island OR in a rural/remote community, shipping costs can be substantially higher than regular ground rates. Our new programs make the rates better than ever and its quite rare that a manual review is needed. Many items can be shipped to a nearby purolator depot and will remain within our standard allowances.  If your address is designated as "beyond point / rural /remote" you will be contacted at time of order verification and all shipping charges will be disclosed to you before shipment and final order acceptance.  All beyond point orders are subject to manual review by our sales team.   In a near future system upgrade remote shipping calculation will become an automated feature.

Oversize/Overweight definition. Multi piece packages and some items weighing more than 35lbs (cubed shipping weight) may be deemed as oversize as they are much more expensive to ship. Items such as large speakers, digital pianos, fluids sold in case quantity are some examples.  We apply a GIANT discount to your shipping cost where items are deemed oversize or overweight.    Our customer service team will always review your order and offer advice if one of your items is classified as an oversize/overweight product that may be subject to additional costs but this is quite rare with our new programs.  Please call us directly if you require further information at 1888 472 0070.  We are here to help!

Shipping Insurance
We automatically provide $100.00 of shipping insurance to every order at no cost.  If you would like additional insurance on the value of your order, please specify this in your checkout notes.  Insurance is available in increments of $100.00 and typically equates to 3% - 6% of your order value in additional fees.  Our customer service team will provide you with an insurance quote upon request.

Air Freight/Rush Shipping Services
Rush / Air service is only available by calling us toll free at 1 888 472 0070
(keep in mind air service is 3-10 times more costly than standard ground rates and is totally optional.) We also offer BPX shipping which is 12-24 hours delivery time to many parts of Ontario and Quebec.Orders requiring RUSH shipping options are subject to all normal shipping charges.  A quotation will be provided upon request.  Rush Shipping can only be requested by phone at this time.

Overseas Shipments
Shipping outside of North America is very expensive.  Typically these shipping rates are about the same price as buying a plane ticket.  We will gladly provide a shipping quote for you or use some of the websites below to determine a ballpark idea on shipping cost.  Credit Cards and Paypal are not accepted for overseas shipments. Orders must be paid in full using international wire transfer in advance. 

What is Cubed Shipping Weight?
Cubed shipping weight is different than the weight of the actual product. Shipping companies do not use the actual product weight but rather they use a formula based on the amount of space used in their trucks for the item when its packed inside a box for shipping. This is called Dimensional weight or cubed shipping weight. All of our product pages and  invoice summaries indicate dimensions and cubed shipping weights.

To Calculate Dimensional Weight (example from Purolator)
Measure an item in its factory / shipping carton.
then multiply (Length x Width x Height) and divide that result by 172.80 to get the dimensional weight. (cubed weight)
Example an Acoustic Guitar might actually weigh under 10lbs but inside a box for shipping it would have the dimensions of 51" x 20" x 9"
Using our formula
(51x20x9)divided by 172.80 = 54lbs cubed (even tho actual item weight might be 10-15lbs or less).

Bus Parcel - Super fast overnight service to many parts of Ontario and Quebec.  Items must be picked up at the local bus station but if you need it really fast it is a great option and is often used by courier companies themselves to transfer packages between cities and towns.

LTL  Trucking - Designed for large shipments. "less than load" means that items will be shipped on a skid or pallette by transport truck.  We use a variety of companies for this service.  Most of these orders are designed for commercial deliveries with a loading dock.  If you need to order big heavy stuff it will likely be shipped via LTL service.  Insurance is limited to 1.00 per pound in most cases.  Tailgate fees of up to $200 may be applied on top of regular shipment charges if no loading dock is available.  Large PA speakers, Pianos, and big bulky items will require this option when the shipment is over 250 lbs.


NOTE: Some items may be shipped from our warehouse locations in Toronto or Montreal. These shipments will often be upgraded to Purolator, Fedex, Canpar, Loomis, DHL, UPS or other premium shipping services at no additional cost to you...however there may be delays in providing up to date tracking as these warehouses can only provide updates to us every 48 hours not including weekends.

In the event of a product return or refused shipment...all free shipping charges will be deducted at actual cost from your credited value. Oversize and heavy are only billed for partial amounts at time of sale.  In the event of a product return or refused shipment, items which have received freight discounts will be charged back against credited values for the difference between actual cost and originally billed amounts at time the order was placed.

These days many manufactured goods come from overseas markets and offer minimal quality control, let alone safety features. Ensuring that electrical equipment meets Canadian standards ensures that you are not operating in the "grey" and becoming subject to liability should the item fail and cause harm to persons or facilities.

Did you know?
Governments and Government agencies are mandated to check for Electrical Safety Standards under Canadian Law.  This includes, hospitals, schools, arenas, and institutional purchasing. A valid certificate of compliance must be provided upon request for all electrical devices sold in Canada.  Rest assured that all electrical products sold in our retail and mail order operations comply with these standards and should the need arise, certificates will be provided to all relevant parties.

Insurance Requirement: If you own a product which has not met Canadian Electrical safety standards, you could be held responsible for any damages caused by this item.  Insurance regulations have changed over the years and if a non-approved item is found to be the cause of a fire....you will NOT be covered for liability or damages by your insurance company.

We offer a first rate on-site warranty service and repair depot for all items purchased through our retail outlets and online store.  Should the need arise, we have you covered.

If you have a warranty concern or if you have received a damaged or DOA item, please contact us at 1 888 472 0070 to obtain a warranty RA number and to get instructions on further steps required to get your item processed quickly. Please ensure you have discussed all details with our customer service team either by phone or email before you return an item.  We will gladly provide all support needed to take care of your item(s).

Loaners and Reduced rate rental items are available while your equipment is being serviced under warranty. (subject to local availability for the first 90 days of your warranty period)

Items purchased at one of our retail outlets may be returned in person during business hours. An original copy of your purchase receipt is required  for warranty repair service or DOA replacement.  If you have a DOA item that was purchased at our retail outlets, these items can often be swapped right away provided that you have all documents, inserts, bags, and packaging for the original item.  Items returned without all accessories and packaging will be treated as a warranty repair service.

Items purchased on-line must contact our toll free number at 1 888 472 0070 and discuss the problem with our customer service team who will then advise you of steps required to complete your warranty service.

(if you purchased a discontinued clearance product, these items will only be replaced if defective and repairs may not be possible in some cases...a suitable substitute or account credit may be offered) 
(items returned without prior authorization and valid RA number may be refused, please ensure you have this information before returning an item.)

All shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and your warranty return must include a copy of your original sales receipt or invoice with a detailed explanation of the nature of your issue so that we can make a hasty repair. Items which were received via mail order in non functional condition or which become non functional within 10 days of ownership shall be considered DOA and are eligible for free warranty replacement in most cases. In the event of DOA or non functional within 10 business days, customer is responsible to return the item at their expense and a replacement unit shall be forwarded at no cost to the customer when the defective item is received and processed by our shipping team.  Our customer service team can assist you in processing a return shipment as we have much better shipping rates than most consumers can get from a shipping depot.  We can even create a return shipping label for you and send it by email if desired.

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase from Acclaim Sound and Lighting, simply return it to us within 30 days of the invoice date for a refund or exchange for full merchandise value. 1. Call 1.888 472 0070 for a return authorization number. 2. Re-pack the item in new condition. Please double box item including its original packaging (including all inserts, plastic bags, manuals and accessories) and send it back to us, return postage must be paid by the customer. Products in like new condition will receive an exchange or refund for the full merchandise value. Free shipping and discounted shipping offer amounts will be deducted from your credited value. Damaged or defective items must be reported immediately upon receipt. Failure to report defects or damage within 15 days will nullify this guarantee. Items shipped to the USA do not qualify for this offer.

NOTE: Please do not use DUCK tape when returning packages....clear box tape is the best choice to avoid damage to your packaging.

All approved returns must be in new condition with all original boxes, accessories, and packaging or they will be subject to a 25% restocking fee. Gear that has been rack mounted, damaged gear due to misuse, and any product that looks used and cannot be resold as new, will automatically be charged a 25% restocking fee. Ask your sales representative if you are unsure if the fee applies to your return.

Returns to our retail locations.  Our retail centers frequently have special offers and exclusive savings not available online.  These outlets also have display models and or featured items which may not be eligible for refund.  If you made a purchase at one of our retail locations we will gladly provide you with a 30 day exchange or store credit and all other terms and conditions shall apply.
